Itinerary and Summary

Day 1: We left the house at 9am arriving at 12 noon. The traffic was heavy as many people were making their way to the Alps for a ski holiday. We were vacationing with our friends the Huell's. They arrived about 30 mins after us. The weather was not what we had hoped. There was lots of snow on the ground and in the mountains but it was raining. Which made for wet feet, wet pants, wet everything! After getting settled in we all walked to downtown Obersdorf and had lunch. After that walk John's canvas Adidas shoes were soaked! Jennifer and I went to the store to get milk and all the other items we needed to be comfortable in our little apartment. When we returned back to the apartment; I was surprised that John had agreed to go to the Spa with Wolfgang and Joachim. We met up and had a great dinner - John had to walk to dinner with bags over his socks before putting his shoes back on! Dinner was great; Wolfgang suggested we switch tables, food was good and the girls fell asleep. We all enjoyed one more drink before making the walk home.

Day 2: John, Wolfgang and Joachim spent the day at Fellhorn where they later found out that on the other side of the mountain (the Austrian side) there was an avalanche that killed at least one person. Sandra, Jennifer, Mackenzie, Julia and I spent the day at Sollereck. We went sledding, built a snowman and enjoyed the winter wonderland that we were in! We went to Wienwald for lunch where Jennifer and I got a chicken burger and I had my first Banana split. It was good.We met up with the guys back at the house and got ready for dinner. Again we had a great meal. The meal was served with silver tops covering the plates - fancy, we loved it. (I just ordered a cup of soup since I had just has a big lunch - no silver top on my soup.)

Day 3: John, Wolfgang, Joachim and I hit the slopes with Sandra and Jennifer watching the kids. It was raining so the board showing which slopes were open had a bunch of red dots. But since we were there and had our lift tickets we were hopeful that as the day progressed more slopes would open. It was not looking good. We went down the only slope open and decided to go up one more time. We made our way up and another slope opened; rode the slope and the rain was coming down harder. We decided to take a break, have a beer and hope that more slopes would open. And it worked every time we stopped for a beer a new slope would open. So by the end of our day we were all feeling good. I stayed out with Wolfgang and Joachim while John went and had dinner with the girls.

Day 4: The Huell's went skiing while John and I took the girls back to Sollereck for Ski School and Sledding. Mackenzie did well in Ski School then we all made our way up the mountain on sledding. It was fun. We met up with the Huell's for our last dinner together. We really enjoyed spending time with the Huell's.
